At our most recent annual meeting, we asked our members to describe in a few words what Slow Food means to them. Here are some of their responses:

SLOW FOOD is–

  • Slow Food represents the hope of putting sustainability into the consciousness of all the citizens of the world.
  • Food that promotes pleasure and health.
  • A leisurely meal outside with the family (and wine!)
  • Real food.
  • Slow Food, to me means I am conscious of the world I live in. I have to take responsibility for all of my choices which ultimately effect the environment. I want to know my farmer and my food. I want to do what I can to support REAL FOOD!
  • Local food – within 100 miles · Sustainable · Ethical · Delicious and nutritious.
  • Taking care and thought, to produce and consume. Healthy and economical for the producer too.
  • From the ground to the table! Happy Food!
  • Preservation of original flavors

  • Good for the body and the planet, in harmony with life
  • Real food. Thoughtful consumption
  • A return to the methodology and products used in the past
  • Justice and pleasure
  • Thought, time, and preparation required
  • The future
