Mark your calendars – the Beaver Dam Pepper Celebration is back again this year! Join Slow Food Chicago and Scrumptious Pantry the week from September 16 to 22 to celebrate this local Ark of Taste Pepper, brought to the US by Joe Hussli in 1912 and named after Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. We are excited to announce that the following great Chicago-area restaurants will offer menu specials from September 19-Sept 22:
The Beaver Dam Pepper will also be featured at Green City Market and Logan Square Farmers’ Market by Radical Root Organic Farm and Majestics Nursery that weekend, so you can buy some fresh peppers and cook up some pepper fabulous-ness to bring to the Beaver Dam Pepper Potluck on September 22, at Scrumptious Pantry.
Should you be growing the Beaver Dam Pepper in your garden – we have launched the Beaver Dam Pepper Championship: the person who grows the largest Beaver Dam Pepper this season will win a Scrumptious Pantry gift basket valued at $100, and the title of “Beaver Dam Pepper Champion”. All you need to do to participate is to tweet or post pictures of your plants & peppers growing on Scrumptious Pantry’s or Slow Food Chicago’s facebook using the hashtag #BeaverDamPepper #Pepperazzi. The Beaver Dam Pepper Champion will be announced at the Potluck!
And should you be in Milwaukee those days, no worries, our friends at Slow Food WiSE have a fabulous program around the Beaver Dam Pepper lined up, as well, we’ll share the event schedule as soon as it’s final.
