Enjoy a truly one-of-a-kind experience as you take yourself on a three-floor self-guided snacking, shopping and educational tour hosted by a variety of talented chefs, local artisans, Whole Foods Market and Slow Food Chicago. Throughout your self-guided adventure, meet local chefs and taste their personalized farm-to-plate dishes, nibble off feasting tables highlighting favorite foods from local farms, experience educational programming provided by Slow Food Chicago, and shop local artisans’ fare including spirits, wine, craft beer, and goods. Special activities include a fresh cider pressing in the Whiner Tap Room and music from local musician Neil Dixon Smith. The Slow Food Patron package also includes an exclusive VIP Chef Demo with 2019 James Beard Award Winner, Greg Wade of Publican Quality Bread. All evening proceeds benefit Slow Food Chicago (local artisans and partner sales not included).
Slow Food Youth Network Chicago is kicking off their first year by curating a series of tours and events highlighting our local food system. We invite youth and adults who are curious about their food systems to join us in learning about food production!
Metropolis Coffee Company is a family-owned, Chicago-based coffee roasting company, wholesaler and café. Join us on Thursday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m. to learn about the basics of coffee, get a tour of the the roasting, packaging, and fulfillment processes, and enjoy a fun tasting! Perfect for coffee lovers and conscious consumers.
Metropolis' roasterie is located at 3057 N Rockwell at the rear of the complex. If arriving on foot or by bike, follow the signs for Metropolis down the brick alley just north of Nelson St. If arriving by car, there is an entrance just north of there that is open to vehicle traffic. Follow it back and around to the right and you'll see the front door as well as available parking. Please note that closed-toe shoes and a head covering are required during the warehouse portion of the tour (hairnets will be provided for anyone not wearing a hat).

From rooftop farms and beekeeping to recycling and composting facilities, this series will cover a wide range of food production topics. We invite youth and adults who are curious about their food systems to join us throughout the upcoming weeks!
Our Eataly Chicago class series returns with an exclusive demonstration cooking class with chef Greg Wade (head baker at Publican Quality Bread and 2019 James Beard Outstanding Baker) and chef Evan Robinson (MasterChef Junior 2017 finalist). Greg will demonstrate two different breads with chef Evan preparing an accompanying soup and dips using seasonal produce. Members of the Slow Food Chicago board who also be in attendance to discuss the pillars of the Slow Food Movement.
