Join AUA and Slow Food Chicago as we kick off an exciting year-long collaboration of "Raise the Barn Crop Mobs" at urban farms and gardens! Our first volunteer site will be at the South Merrill Community Garden, an intergenerational garden group dedicated to facilitating peace in the South Shore neighborhood.
To promote health and nutrition, on April 29th, these amazing folks will build a cooking pavilion and firebrick oven in their garden! Chicago Plant Rescue has drawn up a fabulous blueprint and the community gardeners are ready to go, but it's a big project and many hands are needed. (That's where you come in!)
Let's come together as an urban ag community and help build it to last! (No prior experience necessary - just a willingness to learn and make new friends! Please come with garden clothes (layers and items that you don't mind if they get dirty) and closed-toe shoes.) Preferred shifts are 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm, but come whenever you can. RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org. Hope you can join us!
