Each year, as the longest day of the calendar year approaches, we set aside a Sunday afternoon to soak up the extra hours of sunshine by gathering, celebrating and breaking bread together. Our annual Summer Solstice Potluck is back this year, and scheduled for Sunday, June 25th. Grab a blanket, a shareable side dish, and bring the whole family - join Slow Food Chicago for a community picnic with Chicago Honey Co-op at Rancho Verde, the LEED-certified headquarters of Christy Webber Landscapes. Main course and beverages will be provided, but you can bring you best salad, side dish or dessert to share. Throughout the afternoon, tours will be offered of the Chicago Honey Co-op bee-hives installed on the green roof.
You're going to want to mark your calendars for this family friendly event full of games, farm animals (yes, there will be goats!), delicious food, and great community!
Tickets will be available for purchase at the door, or are available in advance via the Chicago Honey Co-op's site, here. $15 for the general public, $10 for Slow Food Chicago members and Chicago Honey Co-op members, children under 10 admitted for free.
Proceeds from ticket sales to this event to benefit the Chicago Honey Co-op Training Center and Slow Food Chicago's programming, such as the PreSERVE Garden, a community based garden run with our partners, the Chicago Honey Co-op, NeighborSpace and the North Lawndale Greening Committee in North Lawndale. The garden produced over 500 lbs of produce last year for folks in the community.
