2014 Farm Roast Highlights

Wondering where all that delicious food came from at the 2014 Farm Roast?

We were so lucky and proud to work with 8 incredible chefs, and featured ingredients from 16 local and sustainable farmers and producers.

Plus, 13 products from Slow Food’s Ark of Taste and Presidi um, a list of endangered products at risk of extinction, were incorporated into the feast! We hope you’ll visit these restaurants and support these producers next time you see them at the Farmers Market!

American Native Pecan: Staple food for American Indian

American Persimmon: Burnt orange colored fruit with a unique, succulent flesh

Anishinaabeg Manoomin (Wild Rice): Tall, aquatic grass native to North America

Beaver Dam Pepper: Mildly hot Hungarian heirloom pepper

Pawpaw: Largest edible fruit native to the US; has a creamy, custard-like flesh with a tropical flavor

Sheboygan Tomato: Strongly flavored heirloom tomato with complex flavor and great balance of sweetness and acidity

Tennis Ball Lettuce: Black-seeded lettuce with light green leaves

Sorghum: Native African drought-resistant, heat tolerant grass
